Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ads agencies
Agencies that run Facebook and Instagram ads for online stores, from creative testing to retargeting, and how to judge them on more than a screenshot of ROAS.
When you need this
- Creative is the bottleneck: you know the targeting is fine but nobody is producing and testing new ads every week.
- Reported Meta results and store revenue have drifted apart and you need someone who can reconcile them.
- You are scaling spend and need structure, not another boosted post.
What it costs, in general terms
Agencies usually charge a flat monthly fee, a percentage of ad spend, or a mix of the two, often with a minimum monthly spend and a minimum contract length. Ask for all three in writing before you compare quotes. Creative production is often priced separately, so ask whether ad creative is included.
How to choose
- 01Ask how they measure results beyond the Meta attribution window, for example against store orders or post-purchase surveys.
- 02Ask how many new creatives they produce and test each month, and who makes them.
- 03Confirm the ad account, pixel and Conversions API setup stay in your Business Manager.
The questions every agency is compared on are on how we grade.

Frequently asked questions
Why do my Meta ads report more revenue than my store shows?
Meta counts conversions inside its attribution windows, including view-through, and its numbers overlap with other channels. Compare Meta's reported purchases to store orders over the same weeks and treat the gap as normal, then ask the agency how they decide what is working.
Does a Meta ads agency need to make the creative?
Not always, but the ads are the main lever on Meta, so somebody has to produce and test them every week. If the agency does not, make sure you have a creative source lined up before you start.
What should the agency hand over if we part ways?
Everything should already be yours: the Business Manager, the ad account, the pixel and Conversions API, the audiences and the creative files. Check this before you sign, not after.
